Under the authority of the Department of Industrial Relations, Self-Insured Division, the JPA self-insures all work related injuries by levying a premium using a base rate and assigning an experience modification factor to each member to arrive at a net rate. Self-insured means that all members pay premiums based on their net rate times actual total wages, which is used to pay claims filed, claims administration and JPA administrative costs.
